The espresso's journey · head to head
Cappuccino vs macchiato
The cappuccino is the bigger, fuller cup — more espresso and more foam on top; the macchiato stays small and coffee-forward. Same beans, two very different sizes.
A cappuccino is a full milk drink — a shot under equal parts steamed milk and a thick foam cap, served in a proper cup. A macchiato barely involves milk at all: a single shot "marked" with just a dab of foam, so it stays tiny, dark and intense. One's a leisurely cup; the other's a quick jolt with a soft edge.
